It's hard to imagine, but in many churches today, people say it's difficult to meet other people and build relationships that matter. Lighthouse believes this is among the most significant problems facing churches today. It was Jesus' desire that people within the church have relationships that were close and in harmony. Just prior to his death, Jesus prayed for just that...knowing that if the people of his church had relationships that were real and in unity, it would attract those who didn't yet know him.
 At Lighthouse, we are committed, with God's help, to building life-enriching relationships among the members and guests that call Lighthouse home. It would be our great pleasure to offer you a place to develop relationships such as these.
In order to cultivate an environment where people feel comfortable, safe and willing to be themselves, Lighthouse facilitates the gathering of people in small groups. These small groups meet in several locations around the Lowcountry. Here is a description of Lighthouse's small group types:
- Growth Groups - four to ten people who meet regularly, usually in a home, to discuss and live out issues of life and spiritual truth. These groups are led by a trained leader and are relational in nature, existing to facilitate development of life-changing relationships...between God and one another. These groups are Lighthouse's 'first line of ministry' but are also focused on building relationships within our community with people who don't yet know Jesus. Growth Groups also serve as the launching pad for each member's own personal mission in the world. (See map below for Growth Group locations and meeting days)
- Starting Point Groups - two to twenty people who meet semi-regularly with an interest in investigating Lighthouse, spiritual issues, the basics of Christ-following, or their comfort level with the whole 'small group thing'. Led by a trained leader, these groups are for folks who may be new to Lighthouse, those interested in fundametals of Christianity, those who just haven't found a Growth Group to join yet, or people who can't commit to participating in a Growth Group due to other obligations but are still interested in meeting people and building relationships. - Service Groups - small groups of people who meet regularly to perform a task or service. These groups have a defined leader and work not only to accomplish the task but also to ensure meaningful relationships are fostered and deepened in the process.
